Magical rainbow-striped unicorn poop cookies will be a hit with kids.
Ingredients:
  • 0.5 cup butter, softened
  • 0.5 cup shortening
  • 3.5 tablespoons cream cheese, softened
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 0.5 teaspoon almond extract
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 24 drops assorted food coloring, or as desired
  • 1 tablespoon silver candy decorating dragees, or as desired
Instructions:
  • In a large bowl, mix together butter, shortening, and cream cheese until smooth using an electric mixer. Add sugar and salt; continue mixing until well combined. Mix in the egg and almond extract until fully incorporated. Slowly incorporate flour until dough comes together.
  • Shape dough into a ball by hand, then roll into a log and divide into 6 equal portions, one for each color needed.
  • Place a portion of dough on a large piece of plastic wrap and create a well in the center using your thumb. Add 3 drops of food coloring into the well, fold the dough over the coloring, and seal with the plastic wrap. Knead the food coloring into the dough. Repeat with the remaining dough balls, using a different color for each. Add more food coloring if desired.
  • Refrigerate the colored dough for approximately 1 hour until chilled.
  • Preheat your oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C) and grease a baking sheet.
  • Take each colored dough ball and cut it into 8 equal pieces. Keep the remaining dough chilled. Roll out one piece into a 6-inch rope on a waxed paper-lined or lightly floured surface. Repeat with the rest of the dough pieces, then stack one rope of each color to create 8 colorful piles.
  • Combine the ropes gently and roll them by hand into a smooth round shape. Optionally lengthen to 10 or 12 inches. Cut in half. Twist and roll both ends of each half in opposite directions. Shape the dough into coil-like unicorn poop designs. Repeat with the rest of the dough.
  • Decorate the dough pieces with silver candy dragees before placing them on the baking sheet.
  • Bake in the oven until cookies are firm with light brown bottoms, 8 to 10 minutes. Let them cool on a wire rack.
