Indulgent vegan Devil's Food Layer Cake: dairy and egg-free chocolate delight for any special occasion.
Ingredients:
  • 6 ounces unsweetened chocolate, chopped
  • 3 cups cake flour
  • 2 teaspoons baking soda
  • 0.5 teaspoon salt
  • 2 cups white sugar
  • 1.75 cups water
  • 0.66666668653488 cup vegetable oil
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon balsamic vinegar
Instructions:
  • Gently melt unsweetened chocolate in a double boiler, stirring often and using a rubber spatula to scrape down the sides. Let it cool for about 5 minutes before using.
  • Preheat your oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C) and prepare two 9-inch cake pans by lining them with waxed paper.
  • Combine cake flour, baking soda, and salt in a large bowl by sifting them together.
  • Combine sugar, water, vegetable oil, vanilla extract, and balsamic vinegar in a large bowl and whisk until fully combined. Mix in half of the sifted flour mixture, then fold in melted chocolate. Add the remaining sifted flour mixture and beat with an electric mixer on medium speed until smooth, about 2 minutes. Divide batter evenly between cake pans.
  • Place the pans in the preheated oven until a toothpick inserted in the centers comes out clean, approximately 45 minutes. Allow the cakes to cool in the pans for 5 minutes. Carefully invert the cakes onto a wire rack and let them cool completely before frosting for about 1 hour.
