"Delicious venison gyros with flavorful marinated strips, giving a unique twist to the traditional Greek sandwich."
Ingredients:
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1.5 tablespoons ground cumin
  • 1 tablespoon minced garlic
  • 1 tablespoon red wine vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon dried oregano
  • 2 teaspoons dried marjoram
  • 2 teaspoons ground dried rosemary
  • salt and pepper to taste
  • 3 pounds venison, cut into 1/4 thick strips
  • 1 (12 ounce) package pita breads, warmed
Instructions:
  • In a spacious glass or ceramic bowl, combine olive oil, cumin, garlic, vinegar, oregano, marjoram, rosemary, salt, and pepper. Add venison strips and mix well to ensure even coating. Cover with plastic wrap and marinate in the fridge for a minimum of 2 hours.
  • Start by heating a large skillet over medium-high heat. Cook 1/2 pound of venison at a time until it is browned on the outside and no longer pink on the inside, which should take around 8 minutes. Ensure it reaches an internal temperature of at least 160 degrees F (70 degrees C) by using an instant-read thermometer inserted into the center.
  • Serve by heaping the mixture onto warmed pitas.
