Grill succulent venison steaks with a simple plum BBQ glaze.
Ingredients:
  • 1 can (16 1/2 oz) purple plums, drained
  • 1 can (6 oz) frozen lemonade concentrate, thawed
  • 1/4 cup butter or margarine
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped (1/4 cup)
  • 1/4 cup chili sauce
  • 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
  • 6 venison steaks, 1 inch thick (about 4 oz each)
Instructions:
  • Combine fresh plums and lemonade concentrate in a blender. Blend on medium speed until smooth. Set aside for later use.
  • Melt butter in a 2-quart saucepan over medium heat. Sauté onions for about 2 minutes until tender. Add plum mixture and remaining ingredients, bring to a boil, then simmer uncovered for 15 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  • Preheat the broiler. Grease a broiler pan without a rack. Lay the venison steaks on the pan and drizzle 1/2 cup of plum sauce over them evenly.
  • Place the venison with tops about 4 inches from the heat and broil for approximately 10 minutes, or until it turns light brown. Flip the venison, evenly spoon 1/2 cup of plum sauce over it. Broil for an additional 5 minutes until reaching rare to medium-rare doneness. Heat up the remaining sauce, then serve it alongside the venison.
