Indulge in a decadent chocolate and peppermint dessert made effortlessly with puff pastry.
Ingredients:
  • 2 cups whipping (heavy) cream
  • 1 package (6 ounces) white baking bars, broken into 1-inch pieces
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1/4 teaspoon peppermint extract
  • 1/2 package (17.3-ounce size) frozen puff pastry (1 sheet), thawed
  • 3/4 cup chocolate-flavor syrup
  • 6 to 8 coarsely crushed hard peppermint candies
Instructions:
  • In a 2-quart saucepan, gently melt baking bar pieces with whipping cream over low heat. Stir constantly until smooth. Add vanilla and peppermint extract. Let it cool slightly, then cover and refrigerate for at least 2 hours until chilled.
  • Preheat oven to 400°F. Cut the pastry sheet into 12 rectangles by first cutting it into 4 strips crosswise, and then cutting those strips into 3 strips lengthwise. Place the rectangles on an ungreased cookie sheet and bake for 12 to 15 minutes until golden brown. Split the baked rectangles horizontally while still warm.
  • In a small bowl, whip the white chocolate mixture with an electric mixer until stiff peaks form (be careful not to overmix). Place the bottom halves of the pastry pieces on serving plates with the split sides facing up. Fill each with approximately 1/3 cup of white chocolate mixture, then top with the other half of the pastry. Drizzle with chocolate syrup and sprinkle with candies.
