Easy bread maker whole wheat bagels recipe - delicious and irresistible!
Ingredients:
  • 1 cup water
  • 2 tablespoons honey
  • 4 teaspoons vital wheat gluten
  • 1.75 teaspoons yeast
  • 3 cups whole wheat flour
  • 1 tablespoon cornmeal
  • 2 tablespoons white sugar
Instructions:
  • In the bread maker, layer water, honey, vital wheat gluten, salt, yeast, and whole wheat flour. Choose the "Dough" setting and allow the bread maker to knead for approximately 2 hours.
  • After the dough is ready, take it out of the bread maker and gently deflate it on a lightly floured surface. Divide the dough into 8 equal pieces and shape them into balls. Poke a hole through the center of each ball with your thumb to create the bagel shape. Place the bagels on a plate, cover with a clean towel, and allow them to rest for 15 minutes.
  • Preheat your oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C). Line one baking sheet with a clean towel and sprinkle another sheet with cornmeal.
  • Bring a large pot of boiling water sweetened with sugar. Simmer bagels two at a time for 1 minute, flipping halfway. Use a slotted spoon to transfer bagels to a towel-lined baking sheet to drain.
  • Place the bagels onto the baking sheet and generously brush them with egg white.
  • Bake in the preheated oven until beautifully browned, for 15 to 20 minutes. Then, transfer to a cooling rack.
