Indulge in festive Christmas Eve chocolate cups for the perfect holiday treat.
Ingredients:
  • 1 x 200g pkt milk chocolate with hazelnuts, coarsely chopped
  • 3 eggs, at room temperature, separated
  • 125ml (1/2 cup) thickened cream
  • 55g (1/4 cup) caster sugar
  • Icing sugar, to dust
  • Candy canes, to serve
Instructions:
  • Melt the chocolate in a small heatproof bowl over simmering water, stirring until smooth. Allow it to cool slightly, then mix in the egg yolks.
  • Beat cream with an electric mixer until firm peaks form. Gently fold in half the cream with a metal spoon into the chocolate mixture, then repeat with the rest of the cream.
  • In a spotlessly clean and dry bowl, use an electric beater to whip the egg whites until soft peaks form. Slowly add the sugar while continuing to beat until the mixture becomes thick and glossy.
  • Gently incorporate the fluffy egg whites into the rich chocolate mixture. Divide evenly into four 250ml (1-cup) serving cups. Chill in the fridge for at least 6 hours, or until fully set.
  • Sprinkle with powdered sugar and garnish with candy canes.
