Easy skillet apple crisp made with instant oatmeal packets. Perfect for breakfast or dessert.
Ingredients:
  • 1 1/3 cups flavored instant oatmeal (from about 4 packets), such as Maple & Brown Sugar or Cinnamon & Spice
  • 1/2 cup (1 stick) cold salted butter, cut into 1 tablespoon-sized pieces, divided
  • 2 pounds apples (4 large or 5 medium), peeled, cored, and cut into 1-inch chunks
Instructions:
  • Preheat the oven to 425°F and position a rack in the center.
  • Prepare the topping by combining instant oatmeal and 6 tablespoons of butter in a medium bowl. Use your fingertips to press and squeeze the mixture until moist crumbs form, then chill in the refrigerator.
  • In a 10-inch skillet, melt the rest of the butter over medium-high heat. Cook the apples until they caramelize and start to soften, stirring occasionally for about 5 to 7 minutes. Adjust heat to medium if apples brown too fast. Take off the heat when done.
  • Sprinkle the topping generously over the apples in a 2-quart baking dish, allowing some of the apples to peek through for an irresistible golden crisp topping.
  • Bake the crisp: Bake for 18 to 24 minutes until the juices around the skillet edges bubble, apples are tender, and the topping is golden-brown and crisp. Cool for 10 minutes before serving. Enjoy it? Please rate with stars and share your feedback below!
