Air fryer buttermilk fried chicken: Crispy, flavorful and guilt-free!
Ingredients:
  • 2 cups buttermilk
  • 2 teaspoons hot pepper sauce
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1.5 pounds bone-in chicken pieces, with skin
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 teaspoons sweet paprika
  • 2 teaspoons smoked paprika
  • 2 teaspoons garlic salt
  • 2 teaspoons onion powder
  • 1.6666667461395 teaspoons salt
  • 1 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 0.5 teaspoon dried thyme
  • 0.5 teaspoon dried basil
  • 0.33333334326744 teaspoon dried oregano
  • cooking spray
Instructions:
  • Prepare the marinade by mixing buttermilk, hot sauce, and salt in a large gallon-sized resealable bag. Add chicken and massage gently to fully coat. Refrigerate for 8 hours to overnight for best results.
  • Prepare the seasoning: Mix flour, paprikas, garlic salt, onion powder, salt, pepper, cumin, thyme, basil, and oregano in a large resealable bag. Shake well to blend the flavors.
  • Take the marinated chicken out and remove any extra marinade. Place the chicken in the seasoning bag, seal it, and shake thoroughly to coat evenly.
  • Preheat the air fryer to a perfect 400 degrees F (200 degrees C).
  • Coat the chicken with cooking spray and air fry for 20 minutes, flipping halfway through, until fully cooked and the juices run clear. Ensure the temperature reaches at least 165 degrees F (74 degrees C) near the bone with an instant-read thermometer.
