  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup butter
  • 1 cup water
  • 2 cups white sugar
  • 0.5 cup buttermilk
  • 1.5 teaspoons baking soda
  • 0.5 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon almond extract
  • 5 tablespoons milk
  • 1 (16 ounce) package confectioners' sugar, sifted
  • 1 cup chopped pecans
Instructions:
  • Heat your oven to a toasty 400 degrees F (200 degrees C), then generously grease and flour a 10x15 inch sheet pan.
  • Combine the flour and salt in a spacious mixing bowl.
  • In a saucepan, boil 1 cup of butter with water over medium heat. Let it cool after removing from heat.

  • Place the cake in the preheated oven and bake until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean, approximately 15 minutes. Allow the cake to cool before adding icing.
  • In a saucepan, melt 1/2 cup of butter with milk over medium-low heat until boiling. Remove from heat, then mix in confectioners' sugar, chopped pecans, and vanilla extract. Frost the cooled cake with the warm icing.
