Alfredo sauce served in a crispy cob loaf, creating a delicious and unique twist. Enjoy creamy, cheesy sauce with black pepper in a bread bowl, accompanied by crispy, crouton-like bread pieces for dipping. A classic Italian dish that will impress your dinner party guests.
Ingredients:
  • 1 cob loaf
  • 75g butter
  • 50g (1/3 cup) plain flour
  • 250ml (1 cup) milk
  • 300ml thickened cream
  • 155g (1 1/2 cups) grated pizza cheese
  • 35g (1/2 cup) finely grated parmesan
Instructions:
  • Preheat your oven to 180C/160C fan forced. With a serrated knife, slice off the top of the cob, leaving a 2cm-thick shell. Cut the bread center and top into 3cm pieces. Arrange the cob and bread pieces on a large baking tray, then spray the bread pieces with olive oil.
  • In a saucepan over medium heat, melt butter. Stir in garlic for 30 seconds until fragrant. Sprinkle in flour and stir for 1 minute. Slowly add milk and cream, stirring until combined. Simmer for 2 minutes until slightly thickened.
  • Take the pot off the heat and mix in the pizza cheese until it melts. Season with salt and a generous amount of freshly ground black pepper. Transfer the mixture into the cob shell and scatter half of the parmesan around the edges. Bake for 20-25 minutes until the bread is crispy.
  • Allow the dish to cool briefly for 5 minutes, then generously sprinkle with the rest of the parmesan. Serve alongside crunchy bread pieces, perfect for dipping.
