Almond Macaroon Brownie Bars

Try these delicious almond coconut brownie bars made with Betty Crocker™ Supreme original brownie mix for a fantastic traditional treat!
Ingredients:
  • 1 box (16 oz) Betty Crocker™ Delights Supreme Original Brownie Mix
  • Water, vegetable oil and egg called for on brownie mix box
  • 1 1/2 cups flaked coconut
  • 1/2 cup slivered almonds, toasted
  • 1/8 teaspoon almond extract
  • 2/3 cup (from 14-oz can) sweetened condensed milk (not evaporated)
  • 1/4 cup semisweet chocolate chips
Instructions:
  • Preheat the oven to 350°F (or 325°F for dark or nonstick pans). Grease the bottom of a 9-inch square pan with shortening or cooking spray. Prepare the brownie batter according to the box instructions, then spread it in the pan. Bake for 28 to 31 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted 2 inches from the side of the pan comes out almost clean.
  • In a medium bowl, combine all filling ingredients. Once the brownies are done baking, gently spread the filling evenly on top. Return to the oven and bake for an additional 15 to 18 minutes until golden brown. Allow to cool completely on a rack for about 1 1/2 hours.
  • Microwave chocolate chips until smooth, stirring halfway. Transfer to a plastic bag, cut a small hole in the corner, and drizzle over the top. Allow to set for 2 hours, then cut into squares.
