Elevate classic sugar cookies with whole wheat flour for a fun animal theme.
Ingredients:
  • 1/2 cup shortening
  • 1/3 cup milk
  • 3 tablespoons honey
  • 1 cup Gold Medal™ whole wheat flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
Instructions:
  • Preheat oven to 350°F. In a large bowl, use an electric mixer on medium speed to blend shortening, milk, and honey until smooth. Gently fold in the rest of the ingredients until fully combined.
  • Divide the dough in half and roll out one portion at a time on a lightly floured surface until it is 1/8 inch thick. Use animal-shaped cookie cutters that are about 1 1/4 to 1 1/2 inches in size to cut out shapes. Place the cutouts about 1 inch apart on an ungreased cookie sheet.
  • Bake for 6 to 8 minutes until edges turn a very light brown. Transfer from the cookie sheet to a cooling rack and let cool completely, approximately 30 minutes.
