Animal butter biscuits

Make irresistible animal biscuits for the kids to enjoy!
Ingredients:
  • 250g butter, softened
  • 165g caster sugar
  • 8.80 gm vanilla essence
  • 1 egg yolk
  • 260g plain flour
  • 50g cornflour
  • Coloured cachous
  • Hundreds and thousands
  • Halved glace cherries
  • Icing
  • Sifted icing sugar
Instructions:
  • Preheat your oven to 180°C, while lining 2 baking trays with non-stick baking paper.
  • Cream together butter, sugar, and vanilla until light and creamy using electric beaters. Beat in the egg yolk, then add flour and cornflour on low speed until a smooth dough forms. Gently knead the dough on a lightly floured surface. Wrap in plastic wrap and refrigerate until firm, about 30 minutes.
  • Flatten dough between non-stick baking paper to 5mm thickness. Chill for 20-30 minutes until firm.
  • Cut out fun shapes from dough using 6-7cm cookie cutters. Re-roll any extra dough and repeat the process. Arrange biscuits on baking trays, with 5cm space between each. Bake for 12 minutes or until lightly golden. Let cool on tray for 5 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely. Add icing or sprinkle with icing sugar to decorate biscuits.
