Indulge in this festive cheese spread - a perfect Christmas appetizer!
Ingredients:
  • 3 packages (8 ounces each) cream cheese, softened
  • 4 cups shredded Cheddar cheese (16 ounces)
  • 2 tablespoons pesto
  • 1 tablespoon grated onion
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground mustard (dry)
  • 2 or 3 drops red pepper sauce
  • 1/4 cup finely chopped parsley or cilantro
  • 1/4 cup pine nuts
  • 2 tablespoons chopped red bell pepper
  • Assorted crackers, if desired
Instructions:
  • Combine cream cheese and Cheddar cheese, then divide the mixture in half. Stir pesto into one half and mix onion, mustard, and pepper sauce into the other half. Chill both mixtures in the refrigerator for about 4 hours until firm enough to shape.
  • - On a cookie sheet, place the cheese mixtures and shape each half into a cone resembling a Christmas tree. - Roll the trees in parsley, ensuring the parsley sticks evenly. - Press pine nuts onto the trees in a string-like form to create a garland. - Use bell pepper pieces to decorate the trees as ornaments. - If desired, top each tree with a star shape cut from lemon peel. - Serve the Christmas tree cheese appetizers with crackers.
