Indulge in a cozy apple and date crumble, the perfect winter treat with seasonal fruits.
Ingredients:
  • 4 Granny Smith apples, peeled, cored, cut into wedges
  • 40.00 gm caster sugar
  • 8 fresh dates, seeded, coarsely chopped
  • 90g rolled oats
  • 75g plain flour
  • 25g shredded coconut
  • 55g brown sugar
  • 80g butter, softened
  • Vanilla ice-cream, to serve
Instructions:
  • 1. Preheat your oven to 180°C. 2. Put the apple in a large saucepan and sprinkle with caster sugar. 3. Cook the apple over low heat, covered, stirring occasionally for 10 minutes until tender. 4. Take the saucepan off the heat and mix in the dates. 5. Transfer the mixture to a 4-cup (1 litre) ovenproof dish.
  • In a medium bowl, mix oats, flour, coconut, and brown sugar. Add butter and use your fingertips to blend it in until the mixture resembles coarse breadcrumbs. Spread over the apple mixture. Bake in a preheated oven for 20 minutes or until golden brown and heated through. Enjoy with vanilla ice cream, if desired.
