Quick and easy rustic apple crostata with homemade crust, perfect for any occasion.
Ingredients:
  • 1.5 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 pinch salt
  • 0.5 cup cold butter, cubed
  • 3 tablespoons water
  • 0.25 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 0.5 cup white sugar
  • 3 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 5 small apples - peeled, cored, and sliced
  • 1 tablespoon white sugar
  • 0.5 teaspoon ground cinnamon
Instructions:
  • In a large bowl, mix together 1 1/2 cups of flour, 2 tablespoons of sugar, and salt. Add butter and use 2 knives or a pastry cutter to cut it in until the mixture looks like coarse crumbs.
  • Combine water and vanilla extract in a small bowl, then gradually stir into the flour mixture until a dough forms. Shape the dough into a ball, flatten slightly, wrap in plastic wrap, and chill until firm, approximately 30 minutes.
  • In a large bowl, coat apples with a delicious mix of 1/2 cup sugar and 3 tablespoons flour.
  • Preheat the oven to a toasty 400 degrees F (200 degrees C) and elegantly line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  • On a floured work surface, shape dough into a 12-inch circle. Place it on a baking sheet. Fill the center with apple slices, leaving a 2-inch border. Fold the edges over the apples, pinching slightly to seal.
  • Mix 1 tablespoon of sugar with cinnamon in a small bowl, then sprinkle over the apples.
  • Bake the crostata in the preheated oven until the crust turns a beautiful golden brown, which should take around 30 to 40 minutes.
