Enhance your apple pie with a crispy crumb topping filled with walnuts and raisins for extra flavor and texture.
Ingredients:
  • 6 cups thinly sliced apples
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 0.75 cup white sugar
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 0.5 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 0.125 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 0.5 cup raisins
  • 0.5 cup chopped walnuts
  • 1 (9 inch) pie shell
  • 0.5 cup all-purpose flour
  • 0.5 cup packed brown sugar
  • 3 tablespoons butter
Instructions:
  • Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C) for the perfect cooking environment.
  • In a large bowl, combine sliced apples and lemon juice. In a separate bowl, mix white sugar, 2 tablespoons flour, cinnamon, and nutmeg. Sprinkle the mixture over the apples and toss to coat evenly. Add raisins and walnuts, then transfer the mixture to the pie shell.
  • In a small bowl, combine 1/2 cup of flour and brown sugar. Use a fork to mix in butter until crumbly, then sprinkle over the apple filling. Loosely cover the pie top with aluminum foil.
  • Bake in the preheated oven for 25 minutes, then remove foil and bake for an additional 25-30 minutes until the top is golden brown and the filling is bubbly. Allow to cool on a wire rack before serving.
