Apple pie with layers of cinnamon and nutmeg-spiced apples, topped with a sweet buttery crumble, baked until tender and juicy.
Ingredients:
  • 6 apples - peeled, cored and sliced
  • 0.75 cup white sugar
  • 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 0.75 cup packed brown sugar
  • 0.5 cup all-purpose flour
  • 3 teaspoons ground cinnamon
  • 0.25 cup butter
  • 1 recipe pastry for a 9 inch single crust pie
Instructions:
  • Combine the white sugar, cinnamon, and nutmeg in a small bowl. Alternate layers of apples and the sugar mixture until all the apples are used.
  • Combine the flour, brown sugar, cinnamon, and butter until crumbly using a fork. Sprinkle the mixture on top of the apples.
  • Bake at 425 degrees F (220 degrees C) for 40-50 minutes, then cover the top for the last 15 minutes to prevent over browning.
