Try this irresistible apple crumble with a delicious golden oaty topping from School Dinners Cookbook.
Ingredients:
  • 400 g cooking apples
  • 50 g caster sugar
  • 35 g wholemeal flour
  • 35 g rolled oats
  • 35 g unsalted butter
  • 20 g caster sugar
Instructions:
  • Preheat the oven to 190°C/375°F/gas 5. Peel, core, quarter, and cut the apples into chunks. Cook apples with sugar and water in a pan over low heat for 5 minutes until slightly softened. Transfer to a small ovenproof baking dish. In a bowl, combine flour and oats. Add diced butter and rub in with fingertips until crumbly. Mix in sugar and cover fruit with crumble mixture. Bake for about 20 minutes until golden and cooked through.
