Indulge in warm, homemade apple pastries for a delicious tea-time delight.
Ingredients:
  • 4 sheets ready-rolled puff pastry, partially thawed
  • 500.00 ml canned pie apple
  • 125.00 gm raw sugar
  • 54.00 gm maple syrup or honey
  • 20.60 gm milk
  • Whipped cream, to serve
Instructions:
  • Preheat your oven to 200°C. Line 2 baking trays with parchment paper. Cut two 14cm rounds from each pastry sheet using a plate as a guide.
  • In a bowl, mix apple with 1/4 cup of sugar gently. Spread 1/4 cup of apple mixture over one half of each pastry round, leaving a 1cm border. Drizzle each with 1 teaspoon of maple syrup or honey. Fold pastry over filling, press edges with a fork to seal, then place turnovers on prepared trays.
  • Brush the turnover tops with milk, then sprinkle with the remaining sugar. Bake for 10 minutes, swap the trays around in the oven, and bake for an additional 10 minutes until the pastry is puffed and golden. Transfer to a wire rack, let it stand for 5 minutes, and serve warm with cream.
