Make delicious homemade apple turnovers in a snap. Skip the bakery and enjoy the satisfying process of creating your own sweet treats.
Ingredients:
  • 4 medium apples, peeled and chopped
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 1/2 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 2 teaspoons cornstarch
  • 1 sheet frozen puff pastry, thawed
  • Egg wash (1 egg beaten with 1 teaspoon water)
Instructions:
  • Preheat oven to 400°F and line a cookie sheet with parchment paper.
  • Heat a delightful blend of apples, butter, brown sugar, cinnamon, and cornstarch in a 2-quart saucepan until it reaches a gentle boil over medium-high heat. Let it simmer for approximately 5 minutes until the mixture thickens and the apples become tender. Allow it to cool slightly before using.
  • Lightly dust your work surface with flour. Roll out the thawed puff pastry into a 15-inch square, then cut it into 4 smaller squares.
  • 1. Brush each square with egg wash, then spoon apple mixture onto the center. Fold diagonally to form a triangle, pressing edges to seal. Use a fork to crimp edges, transfer to a cookie sheet, brush with egg wash, and finally, cut a few vents into each turnover using a sharp knife.
  • Bake until beautifully golden, about 25 to 30 minutes.
