Crowd-pleasing upside-down apple cake - not your average dessert!
Ingredients:
  • 1.5 cups brown sugar, or more to taste
  • 3 tablespoons ground cinnamon, divided
  • 5 medium apples - peeled, cored, and sliced
  • 1.5 cups unsweetened apple juice
  • 1.5 cups white sugar
  • 1 cup butter, softened
  • 0.5 cup milk
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
  • 2 teaspoons salt
Instructions:
  • Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) for the perfect baking temperature.
  • Sprinkle brown sugar and 2 tablespoons of cinnamon on the base of a 10x15-inch baking pan. Arrange the apple slices in an even layer on top.
  • Combine flour, apple juice, sugar, butter, eggs, milk, 1 tablespoon cinnamon, vanilla extract, baking powder, and salt in a stand mixer with paddle attachment. Mix until smooth for 5 to 10 minutes for a fluffier cake.
  • Evenly coat the apples with the batter in the baking pan.
  • Bake in the preheated oven for 45 to 55 minutes until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. Let cool for 20 to 30 minutes, then invert onto a large serving dish.
