Spiced apples layered with blueberry batter and buttery crumb topping for a delightful blueberry apple buckle dessert.
Ingredients:
  • 3 large Granny Smith apples, peeled and sliced
  • 1.5 cups white sugar, divided
  • 2 tablespoons ground cinnamon
  • 2 tablespoons lemon juice
  • 1 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 0.25 cup butter, softened
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 0.25 teaspoon salt
  • 0.5 cup milk
  • 2 cups fresh blueberries
  • 0.66666668653488 cup white sugar
  • 0.5 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 0.33333334326744 cup cold butter
Instructions:
  • Mix apples in a large bowl with 3/4 cup sugar, cinnamon, lemon juice, and nutmeg until coated. Chill in the refrigerator.
  • Preheat your oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C) and generously grease a 9x13-inch baking dish.
  • In a large bowl, cream together 3/4 cup sugar and butter until smooth, then mix in the egg.
  • In a small bowl, combine flour, baking powder, and salt. Gradually add this mixture to the butter mixture, alternating with milk, until well combined. Gently fold in blueberries.
  • Layer the apples at the bottom of the baking dish and generously pour the blueberry batter over them.
  • Create the topping by combining sugar, flour, and cinnamon in a bowl. Cut in cold butter until a crumbly mixture forms, then sprinkle it over the batter.
  • Bake in the preheated oven for 40-45 minutes until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. Then, cool on a wire rack.
