Irresistible nutty jumbles made with Gold Medal™ all-purpose flour, applesauce, and a sweet vanilla glaze - a crowd-pleasing dessert treat.
Ingredients:
  • 2 3/4 cups Gold Medal™ all-purpose flour
  • 1 1/2 cups packed brown sugar
  • 1 cup chopped nuts, if desired
  • 1 cup raisins
  • 3/4 cup applesauce
  • 1/2 cup margarine or butter, softened
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cloves
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/4 cup butter (do not use margarine)
  • 2 cups powdered sugar
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla
  • 2 to 4 tablespoons hot water
Instructions:
  • Combine all ingredients in a large bowl, excluding the Browned Butter Glaze, and stir until well mixed. If the dough is soft, cover it and refrigerate.
  • Preheat the oven to 375°F and scoop rounded teaspoonfuls of dough onto an ungreased cookie sheet, spacing them about 2 inches apart.
  • After baking for about 10 minutes or until almost no indentation remains when touched, immediately transfer the cookies from the baking sheet to a wire rack. Let them cool completely for about 30 minutes, then generously spread with Browned Butter Glaze.
  • Prepare a decadent browned butter glaze by melting butter in a 1-quart saucepan over low heat until it turns a beautiful golden brown. Remove from heat and whisk in powdered sugar and vanilla. Slowly stir in hot water until the glaze is smooth and spreadable.
