Delight your little monsters with spooky alien treats this Halloween!
Ingredients:
  • 1 box Betty Crocker™ Super Moist™ Devil's Food Cake Mix or 1 box Betty Crocker™ Super Moist™ Yellow Cake Mix
  • 6 cups Kix® cereal
  • 3 tablespoons butter or margarine
  • 4 cups miniature marshmallows
  • 1/4 teaspoon orange neon gel or paste food color (from 2.7-oz tube)
  • 48 gummy peach ring candies (from three 4.25-oz bags)
  • 48 candy-coated chocolate candies
  • 1 tube (0.68 oz) Betty Crocker™ black decorating gel
  • 48 thin pretzel sticks
  • 20 drops green food color
  • 1 tub (12 oz) Betty Crocker™ Whipped Fluffy White Frosting*
Instructions:
  • Preheat the oven to 350°F (325°F for dark or nonstick pans) and line 24 regular-size muffin cups with paper baking cups.
  • Prepare and bake the cake mix following the instructions on the box to make 24 cupcakes. Allow them to cool in the pans for 10 minutes before transferring them to a cooling rack. Let them cool completely for about 30 minutes.
  • Line 2 cookie sheets with waxed paper while placing cereal in a large bowl.
  • Melt butter in a 4-quart saucepan over low heat. Stir in marshmallows until completely melted. Remove from heat, add orange food color, and pour over cereal in a bowl. Mix until well coated.
  • Arrange 2 gummy candies on a cookie sheet for the feet. Coat the inside of a 1/4-cup measuring cup with cooking spray. Fill the measuring cup with the warm cereal mixture and place it over the feet to cover the back half. Repeat this process to create 24 aliens. Add 2 candy-coated chocolate candies for eyes and use black decorating gel to make the eye centers. Finally, insert 2 pretzels as antennae.
  • Add a few drops of green food coloring to the frosting, mix well. Frost the cupcakes with the green frosting. Place one alien on top of each cupcake and gently press to secure. Store the cupcakes uncovered.
