Indulge in a decadent beef and bacon burger, ideal for dinner.
Ingredients:
  • 3 lb lean ground beef
  • 1 pkg (2.8 oz) real bacon pieces (about 3/4 cup)
  • 1/2 teaspoon seasoned salt
  • 8 whole wheat burger buns, split
  • 8 small leaves leaf lettuce
  • 8 slices (1 oz each) Cheddar cheese
  • 8 teaspoons barbecue sauce
  • 8 thin slices sweet onion (such as Vidalia®, Walla Walla, Maui or Texas Sweet)
Instructions:
  • Preheat gas or charcoal grill. Mix ground beef and bacon pieces in a large bowl. Gently shape mixture into 8 (1/2-inch-thick) patties, making a slight indentation in the center of each patty.
  • Preheat your gas or charcoal grill to medium heat and grill the patties for 13 to 15 minutes, turning once, until fully cooked. In the final 1 to 2 minutes, toast the buns by placing them cut side down on the grill.
  • On a large serving platter, arrange the toasted bottom buns. Add a layer of lettuce on each. While the patties are still grilling, season each with seasoned salt and place a slice of cheese on top. Transfer the patties onto the lettuce-lined buns. Quickly drizzle 1 teaspoon of barbecue sauce on top of each patty and add an onion slice. Finish by covering with the top buns.
