Baked Plantains

Elevate your side dish game with this Latin American classic, similar to a fancy baked potato but even better when sliced and fried to crispy perfection.
Ingredients:
  • 4 ripe plantains
  • Vegetable oil
  • Butter or margarine, melted
  • Salt
Instructions:
  • Preheat your oven to 350°F. Trim both ends of the plantains and make a slit through the peel on one side of each plantain. Coat the plantains with oil and place them cut side up in a 13x9x2-inch baking dish.
  • Bake uncovered for approximately 35 minutes until easily pierced with a fork. Make 1 or 2 lengthwise cuts through the peel and then remove it. Serve the plantains with butter and salt.
