Ingredients:
  • 1 (16 ounce) package ziti
  • 1 (15 ounce) container ricotta cheese
  • 1.5 cups tomato sauce
  • 1 (8 ounce) package shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1 egg, slightly beaten
  • 1 teaspoon salt, or to taste
  • 0.5 teaspoon ground black pepper, or to taste
  • 2 cups tomato sauce, divided
  • 0.25 cup grated Parmesan cheese
Instructions:
  • 1. Boil generously salted water in a large pot. Cook ziti until al dente, about 13 minutes. Drain and cool ziti by rinsing with cold water. Drain well.
  • Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C) for a perfectly heated cooking environment.
  • Combine ziti, ricotta cheese, 1 1/2 cups tomato sauce, mozzarella cheese, egg, salt, and pepper in a large bowl and mix well.
  • Evenly coat the bottom of a 2 1/2-quart shallow baking dish with 1/2 cup of tomato sauce. Add ziti mixture to the dish. Finish by covering it with the remaining 1 1/2 cups of tomato sauce and sprinkling Parmesan cheese on top.
  • Bake until the sauce and cheese are bubbly and lightly browned, about 30 minutes in the preheated oven. Allow it to cool for 10 minutes before serving.
