Family-friendly baked ziti with spinach and meat, paired perfectly with salad and crusty Italian bread.
Ingredients:
  • 1 (16 ounce) package ziti pasta
  • 1 pound lean ground beef
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced, divided
  • 2 (26 ounce) jars spaghetti sauce
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 12 ounces baby spinach
  • 1 (16 ounce) container ricotta cheese
  • 0.25 cup shredded Parmesan cheese
  • salt to taste
  • 6 ounces provolone cheese, sliced
  • 1 (8 ounce) package shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 2 tablespoons shredded Parmesan cheese
Instructions:
  • Heat your oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
  • 1. Boil a large pot of lightly salted water. Cook ziti until al dente, about 8 minutes, stirring occasionally. Drain and set aside.
  • Heat a large skillet over medium heat. Cook ground beef, onion, and half of the garlic, stirring, until beef is browned and onion is wilted (5 to 7 minutes). Stir in spaghetti sauce and simmer for 15 minutes.
  • As the meat sauce gently simmers, let's infuse some flavor into the dish. Heat oil in a skillet over medium heat, then sauté the rest of the garlic until aromatic, approximately 1 minute. Add the spinach and cook, stirring occasionally, until it wilts, around 2 minutes. Take it off the heat.
  • Combine creamy ricotta cheese, savory Parmesan cheese, and tender wilted spinach in a bowl. Season generously with salt for a burst of flavor.
  • Layer half of the ziti in the bottom of a 9x13-inch baking dish, top with half of the meat sauce, and a layer of provolone cheese. Spread the spinach mixture over the cheese, then add the remaining ziti and meat sauce. Finish by sprinkling 2 tablespoons of Parmesan and mozzarella on top.
  • In the preheated oven, bake for 30 minutes. Allow to rest for at least 10 minutes before serving to firm up.
