Whip up delicious, classic Betty Crocker baking powder biscuits with basic pantry ingredients. Versatile for any meal, these light and fluffy biscuits are a no-fail crowd pleaser!
Ingredients:
  • 2 cups Gold Medal™ all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon sugar, if desired
  • 3 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup shortening
  • 3/4 cup milk
Instructions:
  • Preheat oven to 450°F. Combine flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt in a large bowl. Incorporate shortening using a pastry blender or two knives until mixture resembles fine crumbs. Gently mix in milk until dough comes together and pulls away from the sides of the bowl (dough should be soft and slightly sticky).
  • Gently coat dough in flour on a lightly floured surface. Knead 10 times, then roll or pat to 1/2 inch thickness. Cut with a floured 2 1/2-inch biscuit cutter. Place biscuits on an ungreased cookie sheet about 1 inch apart for crusty sides or touching for soft sides.
  • Bake until golden brown, then transfer to a wire rack immediately. Serve warm.
