Delicious make-ahead trifle with custard, caramel, and fresh bananas.
Ingredients:
  • 380g can caramel
  • 480.00 gm double thick vanilla custard
  • 1/2 x 460g packet round double unfilled sponge cakes
  • 62.50 ml butterscotch schnapps (optional, see note 1)
  • 4 medium bananas, sliced
  • 505.00 gm thickened cream, whipped
  • Dark chocolate curls, to serve
Instructions:
  • Combine caramel in a bowl, whisk until smooth, then gently fold in custard.
  • Layer half of the cake into six elegant 1 1/2 cup-capacity serving glasses. Gently drizzle with half of the schnapps, for added flavor. Spoon half of the custard mixture over the cake, followed by half of the banana slices. Finish with a layer of rich cream. Repeat the layers for a beautiful presentation. Cover and chill in the refrigerator overnight for the flavors to meld perfectly.
  • Garnish trifles with elegant chocolate curls before serving.
