Pair savory barbecue pork with Asian greens and egg noodles for a delicious and easy weeknight dinner.
Ingredients:
  • 3 shallots, trimmed, thinly sliced
  • 60ml soy sauce
  • 16.00 gm brown sugar
  • 28.60 gm honey
  • 1 garlic clove, crushed
  • 1 tsp Chinese five spice
  • 2 (about 200g each) pork fillets, excess fat trimmed
  • 12.00 gm sesame seeds
  • 200g pkt Egg Noodles
  • 1 bunch choy sum
  • 1 red capsicum, halved, deseeded, thinly sliced
  • 48.80 gm Oyster Sauce, plus extra, to serve
  • 2 tsp sesame oil
  • 250.00 ml loosely packed coriander leaves
  • Soy sauce, to serve
Instructions:
  • In a large glass or ceramic dish, mix together shallots, soy sauce, sugar, honey, garlic, and five spice. Add the pork fillets and ensure they are coated with the mixture. Cover and refrigerate for 2 hours to marinate.
  • Preheat your oven to 180°C and line a baking tray with non-stick baking paper. Place the pork on the tray and bake for 20 minutes, basting occasionally, until golden brown and cooked through. Remove from the oven, cover with foil, and let it rest for 5 minutes before serving.
  • Toast sesame seeds in a small frying pan over medium heat, stirring constantly for 2 minutes until golden. Set aside.
  • Boil noodles in salted water until tender, about 5 minutes. Quickly blanch choy sum for 30 seconds until vibrant and tender. Drain thoroughly and transfer to a big heatproof bowl. Mix in capsicum, oyster sauce, sesame seeds, and oil gently.
  • Slice the pork thinly against the grain, then mix it with the noodles and coriander leaves. Toss everything together until well combined. Serve in bowls, drizzle with extra oyster sauce, and enjoy immediately with soy sauce, if preferred.
