Ingredients:
  • 1 cup butter
  • 2 cups white sugar, divided
  • 3 cups cake flour
  • 4 egg yolks, room temperature
  • 4 egg whites, room temperature
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 cup milk, room temperature
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Instructions:
  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and generously grease and flour three 9-inch round pans.
  • Use an electric mixer to cream together butter and 1 cup of sugar in a large bowl until light, fluffy, and noticeably lighter in color.
  • Whisk egg yolks thoroughly in a separate bowl before incorporating them into the butter mixture.
  • Whisk flour and baking powder together. Gradually mix with milk into the butter and sugar mixture. Beat until smooth, then add vanilla.
  • Whip egg whites until they form soft peaks. Gently incorporate 1 cup of sugar into the fluffy egg whites. Carefully fold the mixture into the cake batter. Divide the batter evenly into the pans.
  • Bake in the oven for 25 minutes until golden and delicious.
