Basic mac and cheese recipe

Irresistible mac and cheese recipe for any occasion, guaranteed to disappear quickly!
Ingredients:
  • 375g macaroni
  • 60g butter
  • 50g plain flour
  • 11.80 gm Dijon mustard
  • 625g milk
  • 120g cheddar cheese
  • 35g breadcrumbs
  • 40g parmesan
Instructions:
  • Preheat oven to 180°C. Cook macaroni in boiling water according to package instructions until al dente. Drain thoroughly.
  • In a large saucepan over medium heat, melt the butter. Stir in flour and mustard and cook for 2 mins until the mixture bubbles and becomes grainy. Lower the heat. Slowly pour in the milk while stirring continuously. Let it cook for 5 mins until the sauce boils and thickens. Remove from heat, add cheddar, and stir well. Season to taste.
  • Fold the macaroni gently into the sauce, then transfer the mixture to a 10-cup (2.5L) ovenproof dish. Mix breadcrumbs and Parmesan in a bowl and evenly sprinkle over the macaroni. Lightly coat with olive oil spray and bake for 15 minutes until golden brown.
