Beef and Bean Pot Pie

Savoury beef and bean pot pie with a golden Bisquick® crust - a hearty twist on a classic favorite.
Ingredients:
  • 1 lb lean (at least 80%) ground beef
  • 1 can (16 oz) pork and beans
  • 1 can (8 oz) tomato sauce
  • 3 tablespoons packed brown sugar
  • 2 teaspoons dried minced onion
  • 1 cup Original Bisquick™ mix
  • 3 tablespoons boiling water
  • 1 tablespoon ketchup
Instructions:
  • Preheat the oven to 375°F and generously grease a 1 1/2-quart round casserole with shortening. Brown the beef in a 10-inch skillet over medium heat, then drain any excess fat. Combine the beef with beans, tomato sauce, brown sugar, and onion. Transfer the mixture to the prepared casserole dish.
  • Combine all ingredients in a medium bowl and stir until a soft dough forms. Beat vigorously for 20 strokes. Roll the dough gently in Bisquick on a dusted surface to coat it. Shape the dough into a ball, knead about 10 times until smooth, and pat it into a 7 1/2-inch round or a round the size of the top of the casserole. Place the dough on top of the beef mixture in the casserole.
  • Bake without a cover for 15 to 20 minutes, or until the crust turns a light golden brown.
