Savory beef and beans in a rich tomato sauce topped with fluffy biscuits - a cozy pot pie favorite!
Ingredients:
  • 1 lb lean (at least 80%) ground beef
  • 2 teaspoons dried minced onion
  • 1 can (15 to 16 oz) pork and beans, undrained
  • 1 can (8 oz) tomato sauce
  • 3 tablespoons packed brown sugar
  • 1 cup Original Bisquick™ mix
  • 3 tablespoons boiling water
  • 1 tablespoon ketchup
Instructions:
  • Preheat the oven to 375°F and generously coat a 1 1/2-quart round casserole dish with cooking spray.
  • In a 10-inch skillet, sauté the beef over medium heat for 8 to 10 minutes until fully cooked; remember to stir occasionally. Drain any excess fat. Add in the onion, pork and beans, tomato sauce, and brown sugar. Transfer the mixture into a casserole dish and set it aside.
  • In a medium bowl, mix all ingredients until a soft dough forms, beating vigorously about 20 times. Transfer dough onto a Bisquick-dusted surface, gently rolling to coat it. Shape the dough into a ball and knead it about 10 times until smooth. Pat the ball into a 7 1/2-inch circle or a circle the same size as the casserole. Place it on top of the beef mixture in the casserole dish.
  • Bake without a cover for 20 to 25 minutes, or until the crust turns a light golden brown.
