1960s Nova Scotia Beef Heart Stew: Savory beef heart stew with onions, perfect over noodles or mashed potatoes.
Ingredients:
  • 1 medium beef heart, rinsed and cubed
  • 1 large onion, peeled and sliced
  • 1 cup water
  • 2 teaspoons salt
  • 0.5 teaspoon seasoned salt
Instructions:
  • Coat beef heart with flour until fully covered.
  • Begin by heating the oil in a Dutch oven over medium-high heat.
  • Brown beef heart in sizzling oil. Add onions and water, then season with salt and seasoned salt. Cover, simmer on low heat until meat is very tender, about 2 to 3 hours.
  • Enjoy this flavorful dish atop a bed of your favorite noodles or creamy mashed potatoes.
