Succulent beef skewers bursting with garlic, ginger, and sweet soy marinade.
Ingredients:
  • 3 French shallots, peeled, thinly sliced
  • 2 garlic cloves, thinly sliced
  • 1cm-piece fresh ginger, peeled, thinly sliced
  • 1/2 tsp ground turmeric
  • 2 tsp sambal oelek
  • 2 (about 800g) beef rump steaks, cut into 5mm-thick strips
  • Ground white pepper
  • 80ml (1/3 cup) kecap manis
  • 250ml can Satay Sauce, warmed, to serve
Instructions:
  • Combine shallot, garlic, ginger, turmeric, and sambal oelek in a blender until smooth. Place the paste in a bowl. Mix in beef until coated. Season with salt and white pepper. Stir in kecap manis. Marinate in the fridge for 30 minutes.
  • Skewer the beef onto 24 soaked bamboo skewers. Heat a chargrill on medium-high. Grill half the skewers for 2 minutes on each side for a medium cook or to your desired doneness. Place on a serving platter and cover with foil to keep warm. Repeat with the rest of the skewers. Serve alongside the satay sauce.
