Beef yakitori skewers

Elevate your BBQ with Japanese beef skewers drizzled with zesty wasabi mayo.
Ingredients:
  • 40.00 ml sake (see note)
  • 42.00 gm dark soy sauce
  • 10.00 gm mirin seasoning
  • 20.00 gm caster sugar
  • 2cm piece fresh ginger, finely grated
  • 800g beef rump steak, trimmed, cut into 3cm pieces
  • 4 green onions, cut into 3cm lengths
  • 123.75 gm Kewpie mayonnaise
  • 1 tsp wasabi paste
Instructions:
  • Combine sake, soy sauce, mirin, sugar, and ginger in a medium glass or ceramic bowl until sugar dissolves. Add beef and mix well. Cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate for 3 hours, if possible.
  • Separate the beef from the marinade. Skewer the beef and onion alternately.
  • Preheat a barbecue chargrill or chargrill pan over medium heat. Grill the skewers, turning occasionally, until cooked to medium doneness, about 6 to 8 minutes.
  • Mix together creamy mayonnaise and spicy wasabi in a small bowl. Enjoy with skewers.
