Sweet and spicy dipping sauce complements salty bacon on water chestnut appetizers.
Ingredients:
  • 2 (8 ounce) cans water chestnuts, drained
  • 0.33333334326744 cup soy sauce
  • 1 pound bacon, halved crosswise
  • 20 toothpicks, or as needed
  • 0.33333334326744 cup packed brown sugar
  • 0.33333334326744 cup mayonnaise
  • 0.33333334326744 cup chili sauce
Instructions:
  • Marinate water chestnuts in a savory soy sauce bath for a minimum of 3 hours; then, drain off excess liquid.
  • Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • Take a slice of bacon and wrap it around each water chestnut, securing it with a toothpick. Place them on a shallow baking dish and repeat the process for the rest of the water chestnuts.
  • Cook in the preheated oven until the bacon is crunchy, for about 25 to 35 minutes.
  • Combine brown sugar, mayonnaise, and chili sauce in a bowl, stirring until a smooth dipping sauce is formed. Serve with bacon-wrapped water chestnuts.
