Decadent brioche French toast, pan-fried and baked, drizzled with browned butter and maple syrup for an indulgent brunch.
Ingredients:
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1.5 cups milk
  • 1 teaspoon white sugar
  • 0.5 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1 pinch salt
  • 1 tablespoon butter, divided, or more as needed
  • 6 (1 inch) thick slices dry brioche bread
  • 0.25 cup butter
  • 6 tablespoons maple syrup, or more to taste
Instructions:
  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • Combine milk, eggs, vanilla, sugar, nutmeg, and salt and whisk until smooth in a bowl.
  • In a skillet over medium heat, warm up 1 1/2 teaspoons of butter. Dip each slice of brioche bread in the egg mixture and cook in the butter until golden on both sides in batches. Add more butter as necessary. Place the French toast on a baking sheet.
  • Bake in the preheated oven until beautifully puffed, for 8 to 10 minutes.
  • In a skillet over medium-low heat, cook 1/4 cup butter until it turns golden brown and emits a toasty aroma, about 3 to 5 minutes. Pour the browned butter into a cold dish. Drizzle the fragrant butter over baked French toast slices and finish by drizzling 1 tablespoon of maple syrup on each slice.
