Basil-infused buttery biscuits: soft inside, crispy outside, perfect for endless toppings.
Ingredients:
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1.5 tablespoons dried basil, divided, or to taste
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 2.25 teaspoons salt, divided, or to taste
  • 0.5 teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • 0.5 cup butter
  • 0.5 cup milk, or more as needed
  • 0.33333334326744 teaspoon pesto
  • 4 tablespoons butter
Instructions:
  • Preheat the oven to a toasty 450 degrees Fahrenheit (230 degrees Celsius).
  • Combine flour, 1 tablespoon of fragrant basil, baking powder, 2 teaspoons of salt, and cayenne in a bowl. Incorporate 1/2 cup of butter using a fork until it forms coarse crumbs. Gradually pour in milk while kneading the dough. Stir in pesto.
  • Allow the dough to cool in the refrigerator for approximately 15 minutes.
  • Knead the dough on a floured surface until smooth. Roll out to your preferred thickness and cut into 12 medium biscuits with a round cookie cutter. Transfer to a baking sheet and brush the tops of each with 1/3 tablespoon of butter. Sprinkle evenly with the remaining dried basil and salt. Enjoy!
  • Bake in the oven preheated until golden brown, about 15 minutes, remembering to flip them over halfway through for even browning on the top.
