Festive gingerbread cookies, perfect for decorating and enjoying during the holidays.
Ingredients:
  • 3 cups flour
  • 2 teaspoons McCormick® Ginger, Ground
  • 1 teaspoon McCormick® Cinnamon, Ground
  • 0.25 teaspoon McCormick® Nutmeg, Ground
  • 0.25 teaspoon salt
  • 0.75 cup butter, softened
  • 0.75 cup firmly packed brown sugar
  • 0.5 cup molasses
  • 1 teaspoon McCormick® Pure Vanilla Extract
Instructions:
  • In a large bowl, combine flour, ginger, cinnamon, baking soda, nutmeg, and salt.
  • Using an electric mixer, blend butter and brown sugar until fluffy. Add molasses, egg, and vanilla; mix well. Slowly incorporate the flour mixture until fully combined on low speed.
  • Shape the dough into a thick, flat disk, then wrap it in plastic wrap. Chill in the refrigerator for 4 hours or overnight.
  • Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) for the perfect baking temperature.
  • On a lightly floured surface, roll out the dough to 1/4 inch thick. Use a 5-inch cookie cutter to cut out gingerbread men shapes. Place them 1 inch apart on ungreased baking sheets.
  • Bake in the preheated oven until the edges of the cookies are set and just start to brown, about 8 to 10 minutes. Allow them to cool on the baking sheets for 1 to 2 minutes, then transfer to wire racks to cool completely.
  • Get creative with decorating the cooled cookies and then store them in an airtight container for up to 5 days.
