Indulge in my irresistible dairy-free vegan naan bread - a must-have for any Indian feast, pairing perfectly with all dishes.
Ingredients:
  • 0.5 cup lukewarm water
  • 2 teaspoons white sugar
  • 1 tablespoon active dry yeast
  • 4.5 cups bread flour
  • 2 teaspoons salt
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 0.25 teaspoon baking soda
  • 0.25 cup coconut oil, melted
  • 0.75 cup plain non-dairy yogurt
  • 2 tablespoons canola oil
Instructions:
  • Combine water and sugar in a bowl and whisk until sugar is dissolved. Sprinkle yeast over the water mixture and allow it to soften and form a creamy foam, about 5 minutes.
  • In a separate bowl, mix flour, salt, baking powder, and baking soda. Add 4 cups of the flour mixture, coconut oil, and yogurt to the yeast mixture and combine well. Gradually incorporate the rest of the flour mixture, 1 tablespoon at a time, until the dough comes together. Knead the dough for 3 to 4 minutes until it is soft and elastic. Place the dough in a large oiled bowl, cover with a towel, and let it rise in a warm spot until doubled in size, which should take about 1 hour.
  • Preheat your oven to a toasty 450 degrees F (220 degrees C and get that pizza stone nice and hot.
  • Take the dough and divide it into 8 pieces on a floured surface. Gently roll each piece and lay it over parchment paper. Cover with a towel and allow it to rise for 20 minutes. Afterward, shape each piece into an 8-inch oval, then move them onto a hot pizza stone. Sprinkle with water and brush with canola oil before baking.
  • Bake until golden and puffy, approximately 2 to 3 minutes in the preheated oven.
