Savor generations-old Hungarian family recipe, 'Blazing Brisket' - a heavenly delight.
Ingredients:
  • 1 cup olive oil
  • 5 pounds beef brisket
  • 2 pounds sliced bacon
  • 5 cups brewed coffee
  • 0.25 cup salt
  • 1 cup butter
  • 0.5 cup minced garlic
  • 0.5 cup shortening
  • 1 pound fatback, sliced into small rectangles
  • 2 sweet potatoes, quartered
  • 2.5 tablespoons prepared horseradish
Instructions:
  • Completely encase the brisket with bacon slices and transfer it to a spacious glass baking dish. Combine the coffee and salt, then pour the mixture over the brisket. Cover and let it marinate in the refrigerator overnight.
  • Combine butter and minced garlic in a saucepan over low heat until butter is melted and golden. Spread shortening in a roasting pan, place brisket in the pan with one cup of coffee marinade, add fatback slices over the roast, and sweet potatoes around the edges. Pour garlic butter over everything. Let stand for 1 hour. Preheat the oven to 325°F (165°C).
  • Cover the roasting pan with foil and bake in a preheated oven for 4 hours until the roast reaches an internal temperature of 145°F (62°C). Allow it to rest for 10 minutes before slicing.
  • Combine olive oil and horseradish in a small saucepan and cook on low heat for at least 30 minutes. Transfer the sauce to a small bowl for serving with the brisket.
