Try this versatile and simple fruit dessert with a delightful crispy topping. Great with blueberries, peaches, or apples.
Ingredients:
  • 2 cups blueberries
  • 0.25 cup margarine, softened
  • 0.75 cup white sugar
  • 1 cup self-rising flour
  • 0.5 cup milk
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 0.25 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1 cup boiling water
Instructions:
  • Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) for the perfect cooking temperature.
  • Spread a layer of blueberries in an 8x8 inch square baking dish. In a medium bowl, blend margarine and 3/4 cup sugar until smooth. Alternately mix in flour and milk into the creamed mixture. Spoon the batter over the blueberries. Combine the remaining 3/4 cup sugar with cornstarch and nutmeg, then sprinkle over the batter. Pour boiling water over the entire dish.
  • Place in the preheated oven for 1 hour. Allow to cool for a minimum of 10 minutes to set. Serve with whipped topping or vanilla ice cream on top.
