Decadent coconut-walnut bonbons with condensed milk, dipped in chocolate for a crowd-pleasing sweet treat.
Ingredients:
  • 1 cup margarine, softened
  • 2 pounds confectioners' sugar, sifted
  • 1 (14 ounce) can sweetened condensed milk
  • 3 cups coconut
  • 1 cup finely chopped walnuts
  • 1 (12 ounce) package semisweet chocolate chips
  • 2 tablespoons shortening
Instructions:
  • Combine butter, confectioners' sugar, condensed milk, coconut, chopped walnuts, and vanilla in a large bowl, mixing until fully incorporated. Chill the mixture in the refrigerator until firm enough to shape into balls, approximately 2 hours.
  • Shape the bonbon mixture into 1-inch balls and arrange them closely together, leaving some space between each on the cookie sheets. Freeze until firm.
  • Once the bonbons are chilling in the freezer, get a cookie sheet or flat surface ready with waxed paper. In a double boiler over simmering water, combine the chocolate chips and shortening, stirring until melted.
  • Coat each bonbon in melted chocolate using a toothpick or fork, then set them on waxed paper to set.
