Indulge in frosted bonbons with a sweet surprise of almond filling inside.
Ingredients:
  • 3 cups Gold Medal™ all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup butter or margarine, softened
  • 2/3 cup powdered sugar
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1 package (7- or 8-oz size) almond paste
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 1/2 tablespoons milk
  • 1 oz unsweetened baking chocolate, melted and cooled
  • 2 tablespoons milk
  • Betty Crocker™ sugar sequins or other decors
Instructions:
  • Preheat oven to 375°F. In a large bowl, combine all bonbon ingredients, except almond paste, and mix with an electric mixer on medium speed until dough forms.
  • Cut the almond paste into 1/4-inch slices, then cut each slice into fourths. Wrap each piece of almond paste with a 1-inch ball of dough, gently roll to form a ball, and place about 1 inch apart on an ungreased cookie sheet.
  • Bake for 10-12 minutes or until the bottom is golden brown and set. Transfer the cookies from the baking sheet to a wire rack. Allow them to cool completely for about 30 minutes.
  • In a small bowl, mix all Vanilla Bonbon Frosting ingredients until perfectly smooth.
  • In a small bowl, mix together all Chocolate Bonbon Frosting ingredients until smooth. Add a little more milk, 1 teaspoon at a time, if needed, until it reaches the desired spreading consistency.
  • Dip cookie tops into frosting and sprinkle with decorations as desired.
