Buttery cookies with hidden almond centers. Delightful!
Ingredients:
  • 1 1/2 cups Gold Medal™ all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup butter or margarine, softened
  • 1/3 cup powdered sugar
  • 2 tablespoons milk
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1/2 package (7- or 8-ounce size) almond paste
  • White candy sprinkles, edible glitter or coarse sugar
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon almond extract
  • 4 to 5 teaspoons milk
Instructions:
  • Preheat oven to 375°F. Combine flour, butter, 1/3 cup powdered sugar, 2 tablespoons milk, and vanilla in a large bowl. Use an electric mixer on medium speed or mix with a spoon until well blended. Slice almond paste into 1/2-inch slices and then cut each slice into fourths.
  • Wrap each piece of almond paste with a 1-inch ball of dough, then gently roll into a uniform ball shape. Arrange the balls about 1 inch apart on an ungreased cookie sheet.
  • Bake cookies for 10-12 minutes until set with a golden brown bottom. Transfer to a wire rack and cool completely for about 30 minutes.
  • Combine all Almond Frosting ingredients in a small bowl until creamy. Dip cookie tops into the frosting, then sprinkle with edible glitter for a magical touch.
